Why did I write my first novel?

In January 2023, I set myself a personal challenge: to write my first novel.

I'd never in my life thought of this, so why? Simply to see if I could do it.

And here is the anecdote:

A few days after New Year's Eve, like many others, my partner and I were tired and not very motivated to return to work. While I was making breakfast, I told her a joke—I won't tell you which one right now, but one day you'll understand.

I thought this remark would make a good subject for a book. The idea popped into my head, and I thought, "Why don't I write this book?"

On January 10th—my birthday, if you ever want to give me a gift 😊—I turned on my computer, opened a blank Word file, and started writing.

I wrote the first 19 chapters alone, over the course of a few months. The goal was to finish it within the year, for my partner's birthday.

Then, as is often the case, everyday life took over. The project remained on hold.

In the first months of 2024, I wanted to get back to work. Seriously. Finish what I'd started. But the news in New Caledonia disrupted everything.

The desire was no longer there, the mind was elsewhere...

At the beginning of 2025, I decided to get back to it. I reread my 19 chapters, but although the ideas were there, I had trouble putting them in order. An idea came to me: to try an experiment. Artificial intelligence. What could it bring me, it which—apparently—was so magical, that everyone worshipped it?

Not to write for me. But to help me keep up the pace, structure myself, and get me going again.

And it worked. I finished the novel.

Today, this blog is here to talk about it.

Behind the scenes. Sincere and honest. Just the facts. But that's for another time.

If you too are interested in writing your first novel , welcome.
